In response to a request from the local firefighters union, in 2015 we began training Macedonian firefighters in medical emergency first response. We partner with firefighters and paramedics from the U.S. to deliver the training. To date over 70 firefighters in North Macedonia have been trained and 5 local instructors have been equipped to continue offering the training to other colleagues.
Participants have the opportunity to learn and practice areas such as: identification of and response to trauma; CPR; immobilization and transport techniques; triage in case of major catastrophes; suffocations, airway management; bandaging and dressing wounds; and teamwork during emergencies.
